Law in Action Is Back

Joshua Rosenberg is back with a new series of programs in the long-running Law in Action. The first week examines knife crime, driverless cars and the Scottish jury verdict of "not proven". Week 2 is about traumatic brain injury and crime. Week 3 covered subjects as diverse as unfair Covid fines, online justice, diversity in the profession, and private prosecutions.  BBC's Law in Action is Back

A new series of Law in Action, with Joshua Rozenberg, is back. The first episode examines the civil claim in the Anne Sacoolas case, the American wife of a diplomat who caused the death of a young Englishman and fled back to the U.S.  Rozenberg also talks about how the pandemic is affecting jury trials. The next episode hears from Anne Sacoolas' lawyer, talks about the possibility of a new referendum on Scottish independence and whether a vaccination can be a requirement for a job.

U.S. Supreme Court Blocks NY's Covid Restrictions on Numbers in Places of Worship

The Court issued a temporary injunction Wednesday saying New York's strict restrictions on the number of people (10) allowed in places of worship in designated Covid hotspots violated the guarantee of religious freedom. In the 5-4 ruling, the new justice, Amy Coney Barrett, voted with 4 other conservative justices. Earlier this year, in cases from Nevada and California, the Court had allowed similar restrictions.
