Serial Podcast, Season 3 - A Year in Cleveland Courts

The Serial Podcast is known for its first season which examined the case of Adnan Syed, convicted of murdering his girlfriend. Season 3 is described on its website as « A year inside a typical American courthouse. This season we tell you the extraordinary stories of ordinary cases. One courthouse, told week by week. » Each episode is about one hour long. A transcript is available.

Stanford Law's Radio Program on YouTube

Stanford Law School produces a radio program, Stanford Legal on Sirius XM Radio, which it also puts on YouTube. The advantage of this format is that not only can you see the speakers but you can also activate automatic subtitles and even change the speed of the sound. One recent topic was the opioid crisis and how to use the legal system to fight it. You can find part one (19 min.) here, part two (9 min.) here. Justice Online

Last year Joshua Rozenberg QC (who presents Law in Action on BBC Radio 4) spoke on the subject of Justice Online -  Justice Online: Just as Good? - at Gresham College.
Recently he presented part two of a three part series -  Justice Online: Getting Better? - which begins with a detailed presentation of a Canadian programme, then goes on to a fairly critical presentation of reforms in progress in England and Wales. Next year will bring Rozenberg's final lecture in the series. The lectures are about one hour long, with a transcript and slides available.

Arbitration

The New York Times recently published a series of three articles about arbitration accompanied by a video  (hard to understand in parts). 5 min 49 sec. no transcript.

An Online Course on American Law

Coursera has a free online course entitled American Law which began on February 15 - it’s not too late to sign up. Subjects covered include torts, contracts, property, constitutional law, criminal law and civil procedure. It consists of a series of short video clips with closed caption subtitles than can be activated.

Unreliable Evidence

BBC Radio 4's Unreliable Evidence, with Clive Anderson, is back. The first programme in this new series is entitled "Cross-Examination in the Dock". The next will talk about whistleblowers, followed by a program me examining the right to take the government to court.
